Higher Points Test for Accounting and ICT?

Have you ever wondered how the invitation system works in after lodging the Expression of Interest? Is it a first come first serve scenario? Apparently not anymore (if it ever was).

This is how the immigration department explains it:

1. The highest ranked clients by points score are invited to apply for the relevant visa.
2. For clients who have equal points scores, the time at which they reached their points score determines their order of invitation.
3. Expressions of Interest with earlier dates of effect are invited before later dates.

So what does this all mean? Well, for Skilled Occupations such as Accountants and ICT Business/System Analysts, those with a points score of 70 or more will now be invited first to apply. If the monthly quota is not reached, those with 65 points will have priority and then finally those with 60 points.

However, it’s not all bad news. Firstly, not all Skilled Occupations experience the same level of competition. And secondly, there are options to boost the number of points you have.
